Eames: The Architect & the Painter

The husband-and-wife team of Charles and Ray Eames were America’s most influential and important industrial designers. Admired for their creations and fascinating as individuals, they have risen to iconic status in American culture. “Eames: The Architect & The Painter” – which is narrated by James Franco – draws from a treasure trove of archival material, including excerpts from their many films, and uses new interviews with friends, colleagues, and experts to both capture the personal story of the couple and place them firmly in the context of their times. A native of St. Louis, Charles Eames attended Washington University’s School of Architecture, and the film appropriately screens at the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts’ Steinberg Auditorium. The program also features a selection of the couple's many films.
