The 31st Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival announces award winners and attendance results
The 31st Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) was held both in person and online from Nov. 3-13, 2022. The fest had a total estimated viewership of 18,923, including 11,627 St. Louis-area students who participated in our free Cinema for Students program. There were 5,745 in-person attendees and 1,551 online viewers. A note on methodology: Because most virtual programs were watched at home by more than a single person, online viewership was estimated by multiplying the number of total programs purchased (886) by 1.75.

The 22nd Annual Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase announces awards

The Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, an annual presentation of the nonprofit Cinema St. Louis (CSL), serves as the area’s primary venue for films made by local artists. The Showcase screened works that were shot in the St. Louis region or were written, directed, or produced by St. Louis-area residents or by filmmakers with strong local ties who are now working elsewhere. The Showcase’s 14 film programs ranged from narrative and documentary features to multi-film compilations of fiction, experimental, and documentary shorts.

Bree Maniscalco Named As Cinema St. Louis’ New Executive Director

The Cinema St. Louis (CSL) board of directors has named Bree Maniscalco as the organization’s new executive director. The nonprofit CSL presents a quartet of annual festivals — the St. Louis International Film Festival, St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, QFest St. Louis, and Classic French Film Festival — and an array of film series, screenings, educational opportunities, and special events.
