From the script that inspired the award-winning 2014 feature film “Selma,” The St. Louis Black Repertory Company celebrates the opening of its 47th season with the World Premiere of HOLD ON!, by Paul Webb and directed by Founder and Producing Director Ron Himes.

While both the film and the play shine a light on the two extraordinary leaders of the day - Martin Luther King Jr. and Lyndon Baines Johnson - the two scripts widely differ - making this a special opportunity to see both.

HOLD ON! opens Jan. 12 (with previews Jan. 10-11) and runs through Jan. 28, 2024 in the Edison Theatre on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, the production is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and Washington University in St. Louis, with opening night support from Ameren and the Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza Hotel, with casting support from Peter and Susan Tuteur.

Selma
"Selma," as in Alabama, the place where segregation in the South was at its worst, leading to a march that ended in violence, forcing a famous statement by President Lyndon B. Johnson that ultimately led to the signing of the Voting Rights Act.
