Cherry

Directed by Sophie Galibert
U.S. | 2022 | Narrative
76 minutes | English

A drifting, quirky, and hopelessly uncommitted 25-year-old woman named Cherry discovers she has only 24 hours to make one of the most consequential decisions of her life  what to do about an unplanned pregnancy at the worst possible moment in her always-chaotic life. Fired from her menial job at a costume shop, she roller-skates around town, looking for insight from her boyfriend, friends, and family. Instead, she is constantly challenged and confronted with what it looks like to finally face adulthood and how others truly view her as constantly running away from it. The film was inspired by the real-life experiences of director Sophie Galibert. Her film energetically explores her favorite subjects — desire and growing up — with wacky characters and a pop visual style. “Cherry” is part of the New Filmmakers Forum Emerging Directors competition and won the Audience Award at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival.
